Melanie Schow: fine art wire jewelry and wire sculpture
I’m Melanie Schow, a fine art jewelry designer who creates one-of-a-kind necklaces, pendants, earrings, and wire sculpture.
My sense of humor comes out in my creations using eclectic and unique materials–everything from gorgeous lampwork art beads and glass dragon heads, to sundry watch parts and whimsical clusters of Lucite and crystal.

Wire art jewelry for people who like to make a statement
You know what you love, and that’s what you wear. Your clothing and jewelry reflect who you are–creative, enthusiastic, strong and expressive.
You choose with your heart and would rather wear something artful and one-of-a-kind than something considered traditionally precious.
If this is you, we have a lot in common!

Why wire?
When wound into shape, wire is structurally solid yet flows into dramatic colorful springs, scrolls, and curlicues. I love using wire to highlight dramatic focal beads and pendants. Wire springs create the illusion of bulk without adding a lot of weight. I also use wire to create hand-forged links d connections in my various jewelry pieces
Although I often work in sterling silver, I use enamel art wire to add color and texture to a piece. Wire comes in many colors—copper, sterling, and myriad rainbow shades. Wire is my medium and allows for endless design combinations in my art.

Kudos for my fine art wire jewelry
Among my most acclaimed work is a series based on water and irrigation, inspired by our move to a farm and my new found appreciation for agriculture in central California. Organized Precipitation won Second Prize at the Celebrate Agriculture with Art 2016 show in Madera County and The Sky is Falling received an honorable mention at Alliance of California Artists show in Fresno.
